  "Major"

January 4th, 2008 - July 15th, 2018
We will never forget you, Major! We love you so very much and miss you terribly everyday.

"Remarkable in his unswerving loyalty to his master, irrepressible in his high spirits, never idle, always in motion, good-natured but not a flatterer, a constant pleasure to the eye." ~Captain Max von Stephanitz(founder of the breed)

Major came to join our family  when he was 14 weeks old, in March of 2008 from Juel's Pinehaven Kennel's in Britt, MN.  He was our first German Shepherd, a dog we hoped would be a loyal companion and be as faithful as his breed predicts. Major was not only our first German Shepherd, but also our first purebred dog. With the excitement of finally owning a purebred, we decided to try showing in conformation. It had been something that Sammy had always wanted to do, so her dream of showing a dog soon became a reality.  Major surprised us greatly with how quickly he took to showing and how he seemed to know when he was being judged. In just one weekend of showing he earned his United Kennel Club Championship along with 2 Best of Breeds and 2 group placings(1st and 2nd) and one Best in Multi- Breed Show!!! Since then, Major has continued to strut his stuff in the show ring and has accomplished being ranked the number 2 German Shepherd Dog in UKC for 2009(number one male), earning an award of excellence at the 2009 UKC Premier top ten competition. He also finished as the number 5 GSD in the UKC for 2010, the number 3 GSD for 2011, the number 7 GSD for 2012 and...out of retirement, the #2 GSD for 2017! With many handfuls of Best of Breed ribbons and even 7 Best in Show wins, he has proven himself in the show ring as a worthy candidate for our breeding program.  He is a strong, balanced dog with effortless movement, capable of working all day...a dog who owns the ground he stands on, and fears nothing and no one.  He is a powerful dog with very pleasing conformation. Major is never without good competition in the ring, but we feel that he brings something into the ring that sets him apart from other dogs... his attitude- a little swagger, a touch of canine machismo.

Major is a competitive show dog, but he's also making his splash in the performance world of dog shows. He has received his AKC Rally Novice title, with good scores too(97, 93, and 97), his UKC Rally Level 1 title(his final leg was a perfect score of 100!!!), 2 UKC Agility titles(High Scoring German Shepherd in his first trial), and is a TOTAL DOG AWARD recipient(X6)!!!! And new...he recently achieved his CD and AKC Achiever Dog recognition at 10 years of age!

Most importantly, Major has an awesome temperament and excellent health!!! He is a certified therapy dog with TDI Inc., is registered with the American Kennel Club as a Canine Good Citizen, and has passed the GSDCA Temperament Certification Test. We couldn't be prouder of his temperament and we feel that it is such an important part of what makes him who he is. He's the goofiest GSD you'll ever meet; always having a great day, but still aware of his surroundings and ready to respond appropriately. Major has been given OFA numbers for hips, elbows, cardiac, DM, CHIC DNA Repository, dentition, and MDR-1. He also earned his CHIC from OFA!!!!!!! We are so incredibly happy that not only is he smart and good looking, he's a healthy asset to the breed and with a correct and trusting temperament.
We have many more adventures planned for Major, we're sure that he'll continue to amaze us.

Major is such a blessing to our lives and continues to inspire our love and passion for the German Shepherd Dog.

Major is and will always be our heart and foundation of our breeding program. He has provided solid ground for us and there's no other dog I would have wanted to start this incredible journey with! Thank you Major for making this such a fun, rewarding, and blessed life with you! We know you'll always be with us, through your kids and grandkids, etc. But until we say a temporary "goodbye" lets continue to live the life you love so much!!!
